Diagnosis: Differs from Skyttea and Diplolaeviopsis by having more sessile/stipitate and larger ascomata, abundant and longer excipular hairs (thick-walled at the tops), covering the whole outside surface of the exciple, cylindrical to narrowly clavate asci with apex thickened into a tholus and narrow ocular chamber evidently widened in apical part.
Generic Type: Macroskyttea parmotrematis Etayo, Flakus & Kukwa Etymology: The name Macroskyttea refers to the similar habitus of Skyttea . We also would like to honour Mogens
Skytte Christiansen (1918–1996) for his great contribution to the knowledge of lichenicolous fungi and his help to the first author when he was starting his studies.
