Lepidophthalmus siriboia Felder & Rodrigues 1993: 367 , figs. 2e–h, 4a–f, 5a–g, 6a–l.

Material examined. Brazil, Ceará: 1 female, LIMCE-UFC 706, Icapuí, Manguezal da Barra Grande, mangrove, in burrow, suction pump, coll. A. Anker, 02.vi.2012 [fcn 12-092]; 1 female, LIMCE-UFC 670, Icapuí, Manguezal da Barra Grande, mangrove, mud flat, in burrow, suction pump, coll. P.P.G. Pachelle, 30.iii.2013 [fcn PP 13-001]; 1 male, LIMCE-UFC 889, Caucaia, Rio Barra Nova estuary, sand-mud flat, in burrow, suction pump, coll. P.P.G. Pachelle et al., 19.iii.2014; 1 male, LIMCE-UFC 890, same collection data [fcn PP 14-021]; 1 male, 1 female, MZUSP 32613, same collection data [fcn PP 14-022, PP 14-023]; 1 female, LIMCE-UFC 897, Paracuru, Rio Curu estuary, mud flat, in burrow, suction pump, coll. P.P.G. Pachelle, 29.iv.2014 [fcn PP 14-047].

Distribution. Western Atlantic: Brazil (Pará, Maranhão, Ceará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Bahia ) ( Calado et al. 1998; Rodrigues & Shimizu 1998; Coelho et al. 2007; present study).

Remarks. The present abundant material is the first record of Lepidophthalmus siriboia in Ceará, showing that the species is very common in estuarine and mangrove habitats of this state, e.g., in Mundaú (A. Anker & P.P.G. Pachelle, pers. obs.), Paracuru, Caucaia and Icapuí. This ghost-shrimp may be the primary host for the burrowassociated “commensal” alpheid shrimp Leptalpheus forceps (see above).
