Type material: Lectotype, male, GUATEMALA: “ Cerro Zunil , 4 – 5000 ft., Champion.”. Secondary labels: “ B.C.A.Col. III.(2). Calocladon histrionicum .” “ Calocladon histrionicum Gorham ” (handwritten) “Type” (rededged circle) “Type., Sp. Figured. ” [syntype] ( NHMUK) . Paralectotypes, female, GUATEMALA: “ Cerro Zunil , 4 – 5000 ft., Champion.”. Secondary labels: “ B.C.A.Col. III.(2). Calocladon histrionicum .” “ SYNTYPE ” (blue-edged circle); female, GUATEMALA: “El Zumbador, 2500 ft., Champion.” “ B.C.A.Col. III.(2). Calocladon histrionicum .” “ Calocladon histrionicum Gorham ” (handwritten); female, same data .

Diagnosis. C. histrionicum can be differentiated mainly by elytra dark brown with yellow stripes restricted to humeral region, branch of the third antennomere 1.6× longer than antennomere, and the shape of male genitalia with parameres slight divergent medially presenting single apical deeply projected hook.

Redescription. Pronotum dark brown with lateral sides yellow. Elytra dark brown with yellow humeral stripes restricted to humeral region ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 16–20 ). Trochanters brown, femur and tibiae dark brown.

Eyes large, eye diameter 1.9× longer than interocular distance. Antennomere 5 weakly (1.1×) longer than 4 and 1.2× longer than 3. Branch of antennomere 3 1.6× longer than antennomere. Mandibles arcuate. Labial palpi short, terminal palpomere rounded apically. Terminal palpomere of maxillary palpi constricted distally, palpomere 2 moderately (1.2×) longer than 4 and 2.2× longer than 3 ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–15 ). Pronotum 1.1× wider than long medially, anterior angles rounded ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1–15 ). Elytra 4× longer than humeral width, intercostal intervals with mostly irregular small square cells. Prosternum transverse. Trochanters as long as third of femur length, tibiae as long as femur. Phallus constricted at apical 1/3 and broad medially, narrower than phallobase in ventral view, forming phallic folding projected ventrally in lateral view. Phallus distally narrow and rounded. Parameres slight divergent medially with single apical deeply projected projection. Phallobase as long as third of phallus ( Figs. 10–11 View FIGURES 1–15 ). Body length: 7.0 mm, humeral width: 1.7 mm.

Distribution: Guatemala.

Comments: As the syntype series is composed of 2 species, according to ICZN (Art. 74.1, 74.7) the lectotype (male) is here designated to become the name-bearing type of Calocladon histrionicum Gorham, 1884 . Simultaneously, 2 female paralectotypes are designated, other syntypes belong to a new genus.
