Diagnosis. Unpigmented; without eyes; chaetotaxy R 0 R 1 R 2 001/31/0101+2, with accessory chaeta ‘s’ on Abd IV present, all claws with three teeth, paired teeth at different levels (at 62% and 78% from base of the claw in relation to its total length), unpaired at 68%; empodial appendage with a minute tooth on external edge. Prelabral chaetae ciliated, labral chaetae smooth. Posterior chaetae on labial triangle M 1, M 2, r, E, L 1, L 2 all ciliated, except for r (vestigial microchaetae), remaining labial chaetae smooth.

Description. Length of holotype 1.45 mm (paratype 2.10 mm). Without pigment.

Head. Without eyes. Antennae ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ) without scales. Ratio Ant: Head 1.57, Ant I, II, III, IV ratios 1: 1.93: 1.75: 2.92 (average n=2). Apical vesicle on Ant IV absent, with a terminal, bifurcated pin-chaeta ( Fig. 2A View FIGURE 2 ) and a medially swollen sensillum in the subapical sense organ ( Fig. 2A, b View FIGURE 2 ). Sensorial chaetae ‘s’ on antennal segment III short, striated, paddle shaped ( Fig. 2A, c View FIGURE 2 ); a similar sensillum present latero-externally on Ant II. Labrum chaetotaxy as in Figure 2B View FIGURE 2 , with four prelabral ciliated chaetae and 5, 5, 4 smooth labral. Maxillary outer lobe with four sublobal chaetae ( Fig. 2C View FIGURE 2 ). Lateral process (differentiated chaeta) of outer labial palp (E) as in Figure 2D View FIGURE 2 . Chaetal formula on posterior row of the labial triangle ( Fig. 2E View FIGURE 2 ): M 1, M 2, r, E, L 1, L 2: all ciliated except for smooth microchaeta r; anterior chaetae to row smooth, posterior chaetae to row ciliated, and four chaetae along the cephalic groove.

Body chaetotaxy. Dorsal macrochaetal formula as R 0 R 1 R 2 001/31/0201+2. R Mc complex with R 0 (A 0), R 1 (A 2) and R 2 (A 3); Mc S and T absent (R 3 /A 4, M 2, S 1 and S 3 as microchaetae); Mc P present (Pa 5) ( Fig. 2F View FIGURE 2 ). Th II with p 2, p 3 and p 5 as Mc. Th III with p 3 as Mc. Abd II chaetotaxy pABq 1 q 2, p present (a 2p or p 3) as smooth microchaeta, a 2i as ciliated microchaeta; A (a 2) and B (m 3) as long ciliated macrochaetae, ‘as’ in normal location, a 3 near and anterior to ‘as’; q 1 (m 3e) and q 2 (p 4) as smooth microchaetae ( Fig. 2G View FIGURE 2 ). Abd III with broad and short ciliated chaetae 2–3 (asymmetrical) anterior to medial bothriotrichium and four anterior to two lateral bothriotricha. Abd IV with accessory chaeta ‘s’ present in the anterior bothriotrichal complex. Macrochaeta C 1 on Abd IV at the level of anterior bothriotrichium (T 2) and ‘as’ as smooth microchaeta. Only B 5 and B 6 present as ciliated Mc, pseudopore interiorly and B 5 below them ( Fig. 2H View FIGURE 2 ); no posterior chaetae. Tenaculum with 4 + 4 teeth and one ciliated chaeta ( Fig. 2I View FIGURE 2 ) .

Legs. Trochanteral organ with 12 chaetae ( Fig. 2J View FIGURE 2 ). Tenent hair acuminate, shorter than claw and slightly longer than 2/3 of the internal claw ( Fig. 2K View FIGURE 2 ). Claw with three teeth ( Figs 2 View FIGURE 2 K–L), basal paired teeth winged with different positions on claws (34% and 46% from inner edge claw) and size, both ending at 53%; unpaired tooth well developed, ending approximately at 69% from inner edge claw. Empodial appendage apically acuminate, with two very small teeth on external edge ( Fig. 2K View FIGURE 2 ). Scales only on coxae.

Furca. Distal manubrial plate with three internal and two external chaetae separated by two pseudopores. Mucro with apical tooth longer than subapical; basal spine just surpassing tip of the subapical tooth. Uncrenulated section of dens approximately 3.6 times as long as mucro ( Fig. 2M View FIGURE 2 ). Scales present only on the anterior face of manubrium and dens.

Etymology. The species is dedicated to Mrs. Francisca Grau Morea, mother of one of the authors (Mateo Vadell Grau).

Remarks. Pseudosinella aeolica Dallai, 1973 , P. subcentralis Da Gama, 1985 and the new species are the only three Palearctic species with three Mc on Th II and one on Th III. Pseudosinella aeolica is a surface species with spatulate tenent hair, four inner teeth on the claw and a rod-like sense organ on the third antennal segment ( Dallai 1973). The holotype was examined, and also paratypes on other slides of P. subcentralis from MHNG (Cova dels Estudiants, Sóller, Mallorca, 15.VIII.1975, Bellés, Cuñé, Comas). If the original description ( Da Gama 1985) and type material of P. subcentralis are compared with the new species, the following differences are observed, basal labial row with all chaetae smooth, except for r (rudimentary) and M 1 and L 2 (sometimes ciliated); claw with only paired teeth, ending before the basal third of the claw ( Fig. 2L View FIGURE 2 ); empodial appendage wider and longer than the new species in relation to the claw; rod-like sense organ of the third antennal segment (not confirmed in the type material because of the condition of the specimens of P. subcentralis ); and antennal/cephalic diagonal between 2.3–2.6. Only two species of Pseudosinella have been previously reported from Mallorca: P. subcentralis (‘Cova des Estudiants’, Sóller) and P. mallorquinensis Palacios-Vargas & Simón-Benito, 2009 (from a beach in Sa Calobra). Pseudosinella mallorquinensis can be differentiated from the new species by 1 + 1 eyes, head Mc ‘T’ present, labial chaeta M 1 absent and chaeta ‘E’ smooth, Th II with one and Th III without macrochaetae, Abd II chaeta ‘p’ absent, supplementary chaeta on Abd IV bothriotrichal complex absent, tenent hair spatulate and total length about 0.8 mm.
