Campyloneurum repens (Aubl.) C.Presl, Tent. Pterid. View in CoL 190. 1836.
= Polypodium repens Aubl., Hist. Pl. Guiane View in CoL 2: 962. 1775.
Range: —Antilles; southern Mexico to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, PA, SC).
Ecology: —Common, low epiphyte, in humid forests; 200–1500(2400) m. In Bolivian Amazonia, crushed fronds are applied directly to heal wounds; fronds may also be placed under bandages for several hours ( Macía 2004).
Notes: —Closely related to C. serpentinum and to other species with long-creeping (twining), narrow rhizomes, e.g., C. fuscosquamatum and sometimes C. ophiocaulon . It is easily distinguished from close relatives by its rhizome scales with margins clearly distinct in cellular pattern from the cells in the center of the scales.
