Campyloneurum phyllitidis View in CoL (L.) C.Presl, Tent. Pterid. 190. 1836.
= Polypodium phyllitidis View in CoL L., Sp. Pl. 2: 1083. 1753.
Range: — U.S.A. (Florida); southern Mexico to Bolivia (BE, CH, CO, LP, PA, SC, TA) and central Brazil.
Ecology: —Very common, low epiphyte, rarely saxicolous, in humid forests; to 1500(2400) m.
Notes: —This species, C. brevifolium , C. nitidum , C. nitidissimum , and C. pascoense form a difficult taxonomic complex. There is variation in blade shape, and rhizome width, and venation. Although few chromosome counts exist for this complex, differences in the ploidal level are known, and that may explain some of the observed variation and taxonomic difficulties.
