Range: —Antilles; southern Mexico to Panama; Colombia, Guianas, and Trinidad to Bolivia (LP), northern Brazil.
Ecology: —Rare, known from two Bolivian collections; epiphytic in montane rain forests; 1500–3100 m.
Notes: —This is the most widely distributed species of Moranopteris , distinctive by the rhizome scales having setiform projections on the margins, moderately setose blades, gibbous segments, forked veins, and two hydathodes per segment.
