Diagnosis. Length 4–5 mm; overall coloration uniform, pale golden, with dark margins on femur and antennal insertions; densely clothed in golden pubescence ( Figs. 1–4 View Figs ); clypeal notch of the male large, rounded posteriorly, enclosing approximately half of a circle, smaller than scape ( Fig. 2 View Figs ); clypeus of female not emarginate ( Fig. 4 View Figs ).

Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Notes on Biology. Specimens have been taken in Lindgren funnels, Malaise traps, and by hand. A single specimen was extracted from a nest of Bombus centralis Cresson, 1864 .

Additional Remarks. This seems to be the most frequently collected of all Antherophagus species in Montana, and is the species known from the greatest number of counties ( Fig. 21 View Figs ). It has been collected both in the mountainous western portion of the state and the flatter eastern portion near the North Dakota border. However, we are still missing records from many counties in Montana, especially in the central and eastern portions ( Fig. 21 View Figs ).
