Type species. Burmophilopota wintertoni gen. et sp. nov.

Diagnosis. Short labellate mouthparts; maxillary palp absent; complete wing venation with veins reaching wing margin; forked R 4+5; absence of crossvein r-m2; CuP and CuA separated to wing margin; wing cell m 3 present.

Etymology. The generic name is a combination of Burmo - (Burmese) and philopota (the type genus of Philopotinae ) in reference to the location of the new genus.
