Material studied. Holotype male. NEW CALEDONIA, Rivière Bleue N.P., (parc 7), rainforest, 21.vii.1992, Bonnet de Larbogne, Chazeau & Guilbert (in MNHN). Paratypes. 1 male, Pointe de Cagou, 21°20'S, 166°20'E, 30 m, humid forest, 5–8.ix.1984, Tillier & Bouchet (in MNHN); 8 males, Mont Panié, 140 m, Malaise trap, 7–18.xii.1990, Baylac & Bourgoin (1 in MZH, 1 in SMNH, 1 in PWMP, 5 in MNHN).
Description. Male. Head. Brown, antenna paler brown, pedicellus and flagellomere 1 yellowish, maxillary palpus very pale brown. Eye bridge 3 facets wide. Face with 14–25 scattered longer and shorter setae. Clypeus with 1–2 setae. Maxillary palpus with 3 palpomeres; palpomere 3 longer than palpomere 1, palpomere 2 shortest; palpomere 1 with 2–3 setae, with a dorsal patch of sensilla in a shallow depression; surface of antennal flagellomeres rough, body of flagellomere 4 ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 A) 2.1–2.8x as long as wide, the neck shorter than broad, the longest setae shorter than the width of flagellomere. Thorax. Brown, with yellow areas on pleura, setae pale. Anterior pronotum with 1–4 setae. Episternum 1 with 3–8 setae. Scutum with long dorsocentrals, with some longer and shorter laterals, scutellum with 4 longer and some short setae. Wing. Hyalinous. Length 1.3–2.0 mm. Width/length 0.40–0.45. Veins distinct. R1/R 0.60–0.75. c/ w 0.60 –0.70. r-m and than bM subequal in length. M, CuA, r-m and bM non-setose. Legs. Yellow. Coxal setae pale. Apical part of front tibia ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 B): tibial organ with pale vestiture forming a long row. Front tibial spur slightly longer than the tibial width. Claws with large teeth. Abdomen. Setae dark and rather fine. Hypopygium ( Figs 8 View FIGURE 8 C, D). Brown, concolorous with abdomen. Intercoxal area with a short lobe with short setosity. Gonocoxa longer than gonostylus, mesial margin with sparse setosity. Gonostylus rather narrow, straight, broadest at middle, with the mesial side not impressed; with dense apical setosity, without an apical tooth, with small dorsal subapical lobe with 5–6 megasetae. Tegmen roundish, weakly sclerotized, with area of many small aedeagal teeth.
Discussion. Bradysia nudilobata can be placed in the Bradysia fungicola group in the sense of Menzel and Mohrig (2000). See also under Bradysia stricta and B. melina .
Etymology. The name is derived from the Latin word nudilobata , having a bare lobe, referring intercoxal lobe with short setae.
