Material. 115 adults and 4 juveniles.
Figured specimens. MP-O-1606 and MP-O-1607.
Occurrence and distribution. In the present study, this species occurs in the southernmost part of the Eastern region of the Brazilian continental shelf, around Cabo Frio ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ; Tab. 1) at a depth range of 35 to 94 m.
Xestoleberis umbonata View in CoL was first recorded in Recent sediments of Argentina by Whatley et al. (1998). Ramos (1998) also recorded this species in the Southern region of Brazil, where it was quite abundant. According to Machado et al. (2005), X. umbonata View in CoL is one of the dominant marine ostracod species off the Cabo Frio area.
