Distribution. Egypt (Sinai peninsula) ( Lindberg 1939; Linnavuori 1968, 1999; Priesner and Alfieri 1953), Iran (Linnavuori 1999, Linnavuori and Modarres 1999). Records from Iraq ( Linnavuori 1993) belong to N. tuberculicollis , from Israel ( Linnavuori 1961, 1962) to N. artemis , and from Saudi Arabia ( Linnavuori 1986) to N. arabicus .
Host plants. Ephedra alata ( Egypt: Sinai) ( Linnavuori 1964, 1968, 1999), Ephedra sp. ( Iran) ( Linnavuori and Modarres 1999). Records from Haloxylon schweinfurthi (Chenopodiaceae) from Sinai by Lindberg (1939), Priesner and Alfieri (1953), and Stichel (1956) seem to be sitting records.
Bionomics. Adults were collected in May ( Lindberg 1939, Priesner and Alfieri 1953, Linnavuori and Modarres 1999, Linnavuori 1999), June ( Linnavuori and Modarres 1999, Linnavuori 1999) and September ( Linnavuori 1964, 1968, 1999).
Ecology. In desert habitats (Linnavuori 1999).
