T y p e m a t e r i a l: Holotype: ♁. Type locality: Panamá, Chiriquí, Volcán de Chiriquí, M. de Mathan, 1901 ( MNHN) . Paratypes: 6 specimens. PANAMÁ: Provincia de Chiriquí ; Volcán de Chiriquí, M. de Mathan, 1901 ( MNHN, 3; WOPC, 2). COLOMBIA: Departamento de Cauca ; Valle de Cauca, M. de Mathan, 1898 ( MNHN, 1) .
D i a g n o s i s: Elytra with prominent gibba; pronotum proper red; elytra tricolorous, basal 1/2 th castaneous, middle 1/2 black, also elytra with yellow lunulate marking; legs red; mesothorax testaceous.
D e s c r i p t i o n: Size: Length 6.0 mm; width 1.0 mm. Form: As in Fig. 22 View Figs 21-24 . Head: Antenna longer than width across eyes, capitulum slightly compacted; (EW/FW 30/60). Thorax: Subapical depression well defined; elytra with prominent gibba; (PL/PW 120/120); (EL/EW 300/75). Abdomen: - Aedeagus ( Fig. 79 View Figs 74-82 ).
V a r i a t i o n: Length 7.0-7- 5 mm; width 1.0- 1.2 mm.
E t y m o l o g y: The species name, gibboclerus, stems from the Latin word "gibbus" and the generic name Clerus.
