Material examined. Hokkaido, 2 ♂, 1 ♀, Tsurui Village, Kushiro , 14. vi. 1975, leg. H. Sasaki.
Diagnosis. Chaetosa punctipes Meigen can be recognized by the following characteristics: postpedicel with acute upper corner ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7–10 ); thoracic pleura greyish dusted; legs wholly yellow; posterior lobes on sternite V with minute spinules on inner parts ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 7–10 ); male surstyli slender and tapering apically ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7–10 ); male cercus with 3 long setae beyond surstyli ( Figs 9, 10 View FIGURES 7–10 ).
Body length (♂). 4.3–4.9 mm.
Distribution. Europe, Mongolia, North America, Russia (the European part, Siberia, the Far East) ( Bagachanova et al., 2016), and Japan (Hokkaido). New to Japan.
