This is a widely distributed species in the grassland and savannas of the Llanos de Moxos and Cerrado in Bolivia ( Mamani et al. 2011; Jørgensen et al. 2014). In Brazil, the species was collected in the Municipality of Aquidauana (Mato Grosso do Sul), in burned areas of Caronal (grassland physiognomy where capim-carona— Elionurus muticus (Spreng.) Kuntze (basionym: Lycurus muticus Spreng. 1987: 32 ; Kuntze 1898: 350)—is abundant).
Specimen examined:— BRAZIL. Mato Grosso do Sul: Aquidauana, entre fazendas Rancheiras e Retirinho, caronal pós-queimada, solo arenoso, 19°57’17”S, 55°59’58”W, 105 m, 11 November 1995, A. Pott et al. 7615 (CGMS, CPAP!, HUFU).
