Previously considered an endemic species of the Cerrado in Bolivia, where it is widely distributed ( Mamani et al. 2011; Jørgensen et al. 2014). In Brazil, this species was collected in the Serra de São Vicente (Mato Grosso), growing on clayey-sandy soils or rocky outcrops.
Specimen examined:— BRAZIL. Mato Grosso: Vila Bela da Santíssima Trindade, Serra de São Vicente, 38 Km N do encontro com a BR-174, em estrada vicinal em direção a mina São Francisco, 14°52’14”S, 59°36’25”W, 720 m, 19 March 2014, M.F. Simon et. al. 2092 (CEN, UFMT!).
