Previously considered endemic to the Serranía Chiquitana (Santiago de Chiquitos and Chochís) and the Huanchaca plateau (Noel Kempff Mercado National Park) in Bolivia ( Mamani et al. 2011; Jørgensen et al. 2014). In Brazil, the species was collected at the top of the Serra de Ricardo Franco (Mato Grosso). Both in Bolivia and Brazil the species inhabit on rocky outcrops, between 600 and 800 m elevation on rocky outcrops.
Specimen examined:— BRAZIL. Mato Grosso: Vila Bela da Santíssima Trindade, Serra de Ricardo Franco, topo da cachoeira do Jatobá, 14°55’06”S, 60°04’36”W, 650 m, 21 March 2014, M.F. Simon et. al. 2214 (CEN, UFMT!).
