Diagnosis (female) Abdominal segment 3 with small rounded spiracle over tergite, segment 4 with pair of lateral linear spiracles over tergite, segments 5 and 6 without spiracle openings ( Figs 4, 5, 10 View FIGURES 4–13 ). (male) General body color brown; transverse dorsal setal ctenidia of hind tibia reaching its anterior face.
Material examined. Holotype: ♀, CHILE, Llanquihue Lago Chapo, 41.45°S 72.5°W, 26.ii.1988, sweeping, 200m, L. Masner col. ( LACM) GoogleMaps . Description. (female) Body length, 2.9 mm ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1–2. 1 ). Frons dark brown, shining. Flagellomere 1 light brown, slightly darker anteriorly. Palpus light brown. No genal setulae. Scutum, scutellum and pleural regions brown. Forefemur with ventral row of 6–8 strong setulae near apex of anterior face. Legs yellowish-brown, except midcoxa and hind tibia brown. Foremetatarsus width/length ratio, 0.28. Midtibia with series of transverse setal ctenidia ¯ four basal most ctenidia occupying dorsal face, other restricted to the posterodorsal face. Hind femur height/length ratio, 0.43. Hind tibia with one anterodorsal seta in basal half and series of 13 transverse dorsal setal ctenidia. Wing slightly brownish. Halter yellowish-brown. Tergites dark brown, with yellow posterior band. Abdominal segment 2 with pair of rounded spiracles on the pleura, segment 3 with pair of rounded spiracles over tergite, segment 4 with pair of linear spiracles over tergite, segments 5 and 6 without spiracle openings ( Figs 4, 5, 10 View FIGURES 4–13 ). Sternite 8 conspicuous, with posterior margin approximately linear ( Figs 14, 15 View FIGURES 14–19 ).
(male) Similar to females. Hypopygium light brown, as described for the genus, hypoproct with six setae ( Figs 32–35 View FIGURES 32–35 ). Phallus as described for the genus, with epiphallus scales long, with rounded tips apically projecting in a filament which connects to the immediately below scale ( Figs 36, 37 View FIGURES 36–41 ).
Geographical distribution. Known from three close localities in central Chile.
