MALE: Dorsal shield bearing 16 pairs of setae, r3 and R1 on dorsal shield. Sternitigenital shield reticulated, bearing five pairs of setae and four pairs of lyrifissures. Peritremes extending forward to j3 level. Ventrianal shield reticulated thoughout, triangular, anteromedially convex, bearing three pairs of pre-anal setae, solenostomes gv3 close to anus. Spermatodactyl L-shaped, foot short, toe blunt.
Specimens examined. Rarotonga, 1 female, ex. coconut ( Cocos nucifera ) leaves, 21 October 2017, by Q.-H. Fan; 3 females, 2 males, 1 deutonymph, ex. same host and collector, 22 October 2017. Rarotonga: Matavera, 1 female, ex. sea hearse ( Hernandia nymphaeifolia ) leaf, 13 March 1983, by U. Gerson.
Remarks: This species was originally described from water hyacinth ( Eichhornia crassipes ) in USA ( Banks 1904). It was previously recorded from Hibiscus tiliaceus in Aitutaki by Collyer (1980) and an unknown tree in Rarotonga by McMurtry & Moraes (1984). It is known from more than 40 countries in the Afrotropical, Australasian, Nearctic, Neotropical, and Palaearctic regions ( Moraes et al. 2004; Demite et al. 2018).
