Amblyseius noumeae Schicha, 1979: 42 .
Diagnosis. Male: dorsal idiosomal shield slightly longer than wide, widest at s4 level, mostly smooth, with striae at marginal areas; bearing 19 pairs of setae (including r3 and R1), all setae (except j1 and Z5) minute, Z5 stout and barbed; muscle marks between j1 and J2. Sternitigenital shield smooth, with a few striae on posterior area. Peritremes extending forward to j5 level. Ventrianal shield triangular, reticulated throughout, with three pairs of pre-anal setae and two pairs of lyrifissures; solenostomes gv3 posterior to JV2, JV5 smooth and stout. Spermathodactyl L-shaped, shaft long and narrow, heel rounded, toe blunt. Leg IV with three macrosetae, smooth and subapically broadened.
Specimens examined. Rarotonga: Ministry of Agriculture, 2 males, ex. Chinese hibiscus ( Hibiscus rosa-sinensis ) leaves, 24 October 2017, by Q.-H. Fan.
Remarks. This species was originally described from Acacia simplicifolia in New Caledonia ( Schicha 1979). It was previously recorded from Rarotonga on avocado ( Persea americana ) ( McMurtry & Moraes 1984). It is also known from Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Tahiti ( Moraes et al. 2004; Demite et al. 2018).
