Imago (fig. 19): Wingspan 12-15mm. Head whitish, labial palpus in male heavily scaled, brownish, in female long dark brown and pointed, segment 3 just shorter than segment 2; maxillary palpus immediately above labial palpus and less than half its length. Thorax and tegulae ochreous white. Forewing ground colour velvety white, suffused pale brown, a pale brownish subbasal fascia, angulate median fascia, white slender discal spot, strongly angulate subterminal fascia, preterminal fascia sinuate close to apex. Male genitalia (fig. 61): Uncus with parallel sides, gnathos ¾ length of uncus; aedeagus digitate, narrow; sacculus with curved apex, 1.4 × length of valva, a symmetrical pair of processes adjacent to valvae with tufts of setae at apex directed inwards. Aedeagus simple, almost straight, 1.5 × length of uncus. Tergite 8 with a weakly sclerotised central point.
Female genitalia (fig. 92): Ostial plate spade-shaped, ostium compact, antrum with sclerotised belt, ductus bursae short, widening into scobinate sac near base of membranous corpus bursae.

Life history: Larva feeds among flowers of Jasminium odoratissimum in the Canary Islands. Has been reared from Jasminium fluminense (in fruit) in South Africa. Probably on other Jasminium spp.
Diagnosis: Similar to the Asian species duplifascialis Hampson, terminal line of forewing sinuate, uncus of male genitalia narrow.
Distribution: Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Angola, D.R. Congo, Nigeria, Cameroon, Zambia, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, Madagascar, Canary Islands.
