Type locality: Nairobi.
Redescription of adult
Imago (fig.7): Wingspan 24–30 mm. Head white, maxillary palpus with terminal tuft of brown hairs, labial palpus just longer than diameter of eye, dark brown densely clothed with hairs, antenna serrate, whitish. Thorax and tegulae white. Forewing ground colour white, increasingly suffused reddish brown distally, an irregular linear brown antemedian fascia, white lunule in disc, angled linear fascia to tornus, beyond this darker reddish brown suffusion, a blackish line along termen. Hindwing with two fascias roughly mirroring forewing, the other fascia with dark brown spots towards dorsum, termen with blackish line, scalloped with long hairs at each node. Abdomen whitish, ferruginous distally. Legs whitish.
Male genitalia (fig. 54): Uncus broad, spatulate with basal lateral lobes, gnathos simple, much shorter than uncus; valva digitate with small lobe halfway, sacculus also digitate half length of valva, a slender pointed appendage dorsal to valva and very slightly longer; a pair of slender pointed processes from vinculum extending beyond valvae. Aedeagus slender and simple 1.5× length of armature.
Female genitalia: not examined.
Diagnosis: The scalloped margin of the hindwing separates this from other species.
Life history: not known.
Distribution: Kenya, Uganda, Botswana, South Africa, Swaziland.
