Type species: Markuelia secunda Val’kov in Val’kov and Karlova, 1984; Basal Pestrotsvet Formation, Nochoroicyathus sunnaginicus Zone, Tommotian stage (correlated with the upper part of Cambrian Stage 2); Altitude 1291 m, Gonam River (Aldan River Basin), southeastern part of the Siberian Platform, Russia.
