The species was described from Kok-Terek sands near to Karatal of Zaysan hollow of East Kazakhstan Province ( Emeljanov, 1964) where it was collected on mixed thickets of Agropyron View in CoL sp. and Calamagrostis View in CoL sp. and other grasses. Later Vilbaste (1980) recorded this species from Central Tuva (type locality of M. pallidus— Dus-Hol' Lake) on Agropyron View in CoL sp.
