Type locality. — Thailand, Prov. Phra Khanong, 13°42' N, 100°36'E. GoogleMaps
Type material.— 1 ♂ holotype from the type locality, 26-31.iii. 1990, V. and B. Roth ( CAS); paratypes: 2 ♂, 2 ♀, same data GoogleMaps (1 ♂, 1 ♀, CD GoogleMaps ).
Other material.— None.
Diagnosis. — Small species with almost unicolour and spineless legs, females with smooth carapace. S. songi is distinct from other species by the constricted median apophysis with three acute tips in the male and the wider than long depression with prominent lateral openings in the epigyne. S. songi can be separated from other small, yet undescribed species from Thailand by the larger PM eyes.
Description. — Male. Total length 2.75 mm. Carapace length 1.25 mm, width 0.85 mm, height 0.30 mm, head width 0.50 mm, eye group width 0.35 mm; abdomen 1.50 mm long, 1.00 mm wide. Leg lengths: leg I 2.90 mm (0.85-1.05-0.50-0.50), leg II 2.55 mm (0.75- 0.90-0.45-0.45), leg III 2.25 mm (0.50-0.75-0.55-0.45), leg IV 3.50 mm (0.90-1.20-0.80- 0.60), palp 0.45-0.20- 0.15-0.40 mm. Carapace, mouthparts, sternum and abdominal scuta chestnut brown, legs pale brown, femora only very little darker than rest of legs. Carapace with rows of shallow pits; margin lined with small denticles. Thoracic groove obsolete. Anterior eyes close together, d AME half that of ALE, d ALE = d PLE; PER recurved, d PME variable, 1/2- 3/4d PLE, PME-PME 1/2 -1 d, PME-PLE less than 1/2 d ALE. Sternum with numerous round pits. Leg spination: all legs spineless except for a small dorsal spine basally on femora I-IV. Dorsal abdominal scutum covering all of abdomen, ventral postgenital scutum four fifth of abdominal length, epigastric scutum produced anteriorly into a short grooved collar. Palp figs 853-854 View Figs 847 - 852 , embolus straight, median apophysis broad, constricted in the middle, with three acute tips.
FEMALE. Total length 3.65 mm. Carapace length 1.35 mm, width 1.10 mm. height 0.40 mm, head width 0.65 mm, eye group width 0.40 mm; abdomen 2.25 mm long, 1.20 mm wide, epigyne 0.30 mm wide, 0.35 mm long. Leg lengths: leg I 3.60 mm (1.00-1.35-0.65- 0.60), leg II 2.80 mm (0.85-0.95-0.50-0.50), leg III 2.65 mm (0.75-0.90-0.50-0.50), leg IV 4.40 mm (1.15-1.50-1.00-0.75), palp 0.45-0.25- 0.20-0.40 mm. Carapace, eyes, mouthparts and leg colouring paler than in male, revealing a pattern of radiating grey veins on the carapace. Legs uniform pale yellow; abdomen pale grey, underside lighter. Carapace surface smooth. Leg spination: femora with dorsal basal spine, anterior legs spineless, tibia III with 1-0v or 0-0v and 0-1 pl or 0-0pl, tibia IV 2 -0v, 0-1 pl or 1-1pl and 1 pair apical-ventral; metatarsus III 2 -0v o r 0-0v, l-0pv o r 0- 1pv, metatarsus IV 2-2v or 2-1 v, 1-0pd, 1-1rd; tarsal claws very long, in posterior legs teeth only on base. Abdomen lacking dorsal and ventral scuta and collar. Bursae only visible from dorsal side.
Distribution. — Only known from the type locality in Thailand.
Etymology. — After Daxiang Song.
Note. — In one male, the right palpal cymbium and bulbal parts are malformed.
