Deronectes (Potamodytes) nipponicus Takizawa (1933: 117) (orig. descr.). Potamonectes nipponicus (Takizawa) ; Nakane (1990: 64).

Nebrioporus nipponicus (Takizawa) View in CoL ; Mori & Kitayama (1993: 86).

Nebrioporus (s.str.) nipponicus (Takizawa) View in CoL ; Nilsson (2001: 172; 2003: 66); Ribera (2004: 484, 486).

Type locality. Japan > Honshu> Tamagawa and Tokyo .

Type material. A series of syntypes in EIHU.

The status of this taxon must be revised, comparing the type of N. hostilis and Japanese material formally named under N. hostilis . It seems probable (Liang-Jong Wang, personal communication, 2007) that it is a valid species and not a synonym of N. hostilis ; this is also in accord with Nakane (1990) and Mori & Kitayama (1993).
