Nebrioporus hostilis ( Sharp, 1884) View in CoL

Fig. 19

Deronectes hostilis Sharp (1884: 443) (orig. descr.).

Nebrioporus hostilis (Sharp) View in CoL ; Hendrich & Mazzoldi (1995: 2); Nilsson (1995b: 55); Nilsson et al (1995: 364); Toledo (1998: 79).

Nebrioporus (s.str.) hostilis (Sharp) View in CoL ; Nilsson (2001: 171; 2003: 66).

Type locality. Japan > South Kiushu .

Type material. Lecotype ♂ ( BMNH), here designated; (see data in Toledo 1998, plus BMNH circular, blue bordered " Lectotype " label, added by me and my red designation label). Although it seems that this species was described on the basis of a single specimen, a lectotype is here designated for the currently only known type specimen, to ensure stability .

New material examined (respect Toledo 1988). China: W Sichuan, Ya'an Pref., Tianquan Co., Jiajin Shan , below Labahe N.R. St., 54 km W Ya'an, 30°02'90"N, 102°26'71"E, 1500 m, 12.VII.1999, leg. Pütz (15 exs. APE) .

For the diagnosis of this species see Hendrich & Mazzoldi (1995) and Toledo (1988). The discovery of some specimens from continental China confirmed the presence of the species in this territory. Although N. hostilis is often difficult to recognise from N. airumlus and N. brownei , the shape and length of male inner claws and the parameres allows the recognition of males of these species.

Distribution ( Fig. 53). China (Sichuan, Liaoning), Japan, Korea, Taiwan. First record for Sichuan. Data for Eastern Siberia need confirmation (see discussion in Toledo 1998).
