Lectotype (designated here): — FRANCE. ( G00209966 !, sub V. pygmaea Gay View in CoL ; Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ).

Notes: —We selected the lectotype of V. nana View in CoL among the original material of V. tricolor View in CoL L. var. nana DC. View in CoL (Art. 7.3, McNeill et al. 2012) in the Herbier De Candolle (G-DC) that includes the specimens used for the redaction of the De Candolle’s Prodromus View in CoL (Art. 9.2, McNeill et al. 2012). Particularly, two specimens are mounted on the chosen herbarium sheet, one, sub V. tenella Poir. View in CoL , collected in Asia Minor by C. Rostan in 1808, and the other, sub V. pygmaea Gay View in CoL , and revised as V. kitaibeliana View in CoL by M. Espeut, 2000, collected by Gay himself on April–May 1816 on mossy dunes on the coast of Cape Carteret and next to Bizou in Manche, a French department in Lower Normandy, a part of the so-called Neustria. Thus, according to Art. 9.14 of the Code ( McNeill et al. 2012), we chose the latter specimen from Normandy (G00209966!) as a lectotype ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ).
