Type material. Holotype: female, Quebrada Chispa , Huancabamba, Department of Pasco, Peru, 10º10’S, 75º15’W, 28 October 1986, D. Silva ( MUSM). GoogleMaps
Etymology. The specific name honors the collector of the type specimen, the arachnologist Diana Silva Dávila, in recognition of her efforts in studying the Peruvian spider fauna.
Diagnosis. Architis dianasilvae sp. nov. shares with A. cymatilis the shape of the CD, which are encapsulated in large, sausage-shaped sclerotised cases ( Figs 3D View FIGURES 3 , 8F View FIGURES 8 ), but can be distinguished by a wide transverse keel in the anterior half of the epigynum, covering the copulatory openings ( Fig. 8E View FIGURES 8 ).
Description
Male. Unknown.
Female ( based on holotype from Quebrada Chispa , Peru)
Carapace reddish-brown, dark brown medially and marginally. Anterior eye row procurved, lateral eyes strongly projected ventrally and almost twice as large as medians. Posterior eyes of similar size. Clypeus cream-coloured, chelicerae reddish-brown. Eye sizes and arrangement as in A. cymatilis (see Carico 1981; fig. 11). Sternum cream-coloured, with marginal brown spots at the base of coxae. Labium and endites reddishbrown. Pedipalpi and legs reddish-brown. Opisthosoma dark gray dorsally, with darker spots. Venter and sides cream-coloured, with dark spots. Spinnerets reddish-brown. Total length 4.7; carapace 1.8 long, 1.7 wide. Tibia I length 3.2, II 3.4, III 2.5, IV 2.9. Opisthosoma 2.8 long, 1.5 wide. Epigynal MF projected posteriorly over epigastric furrow ( Fig. 8E View FIGURES 8 ).
Distribution. Known only from the type locality in northern Peru ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 ).
