Diagnosis

Wingspan, 15–16 mm. This new species is externally similar to N. issikii Yano , which was described from Japan, but can be distinguished from the latter by the two distinct dots on thorax ( Figure 9 View Figures 6–13 ), and by the genital characters: the male genitalia with shorter tegumen, apex rounded; juxta with digitate lateral lobes; a width of valva broader basally, and the female genitalia with the caudal lobes of papillae analis distant from the each other; antrum shorter – four-fifths the length of that of N. issikii .

Description

Adult ( Figures 8–9 View Figures 6–13 ). Head and frons greyish brown; vertex pale yellowish brown; occipital fringe pale yellowish brown with white apex. Scape of antenna dark brown, with a yellow patch dorsally. Labial palpus long, brown on outer surface, speckled with pale yellowish white dots on second segment Tegula dark brown. Thorax uniform dark brown, with two distinct black dots medially. Fore-, mid- and hindleg dark brown ventrally, tinged with yellowish white patches; hind tibia yellowish brown, with dark brown scale-tufts at one-third, at middle, and at terminal; each part before tufts with yellowish patch medially; tufts with creamy white scales apically. Forewing cleft from about two-thirds of length; ground colour greyish brown with scattered uniform dark fuscous scales; first lobe sharply produced apically, with falcate termen; second lobe with more strongly concave termen, apex sharply acute. Markings of forewing dark brown; a dark brown, broad, trapezoidal fascia before cleft, followed by a creamy white streak along inner margin of first lobe; the other similar fascia beyond cleft; another more distinct one beyond two-thirds of the lobe followed by yellowish white subterminal line; black scales beyond one-third of inner margin; termen with creamy white fringe; second lobe with shorter subterminal line; a small scale-tooth before two-thirds on inner margin. Hindwing brown, darker towards apex; lobes slender; cleft between first and second lobe before half length; third lobe more slender, about three-fifths the length of second lobe, with a large scale-tooth on inner margin subapically and six to seven small black scales before the scale-tooth along inner margin; fringe brownish grey.

Male genitalia ( Figures 16–18 View Figures 14–23 ). Uncus small, thumb-like, weakly sclerotized with apex rough. Tegumen deeply incised medially; depth of incision longer than half of tegumen; each lobe of tegumen with rounded apex. Valvae symmetrical, broader basally; scacculus extended eight-ninths of valva. Vinculum weakly arched. Juxta with digitate lateral lobes. Aedeagus long, about three-fifths length of valva, nearly straight without cornutus.

Female genitalia ( Figures 25–26 View Figures 24–30 ). Caudal lobes of papillae analis with pointed apex, distant from the each other. Apophysis posterioris slightly longer than the antrum. Apophysis anterioris absent. Antrum long, 1.5 times as long as the eighth segment, tube-like, with numerous curled hairs laterally. Ductus bursae narrow, about twothirds length of corpus bursa. Corpus bursa ovate, with a pair of leaf-like signa medially.

Distribution

Korea.

Etymology

The specific name of the new species is derived from the Greek, di (= two) + stigma (= spot), referring to two spots on thorax.
