Subías (2022) considered this species as congeneric with A. closteros Niedbała, 2006 and A. ardua otaheitensis ( Hammer, 1972) . However, lamellar and rostral setae on prodorsum in A. curticephala are similar in length (versus lamellar longer than rostral setae in A. otaheitensis ), slightly shorter notogastral setae and anal seta longer than setae ad 1 and ad 2 (versus anal setae shorter than ad 1 and ad 2 setae). In addition, they have completely different shape of trichobothria and different numbers of genital setae (9 pairs versus 7 pairs).

But both species differ by the shape of notogastral setae, location of some notogastral setae and presence of setae of femora I: A. (A.) immundus has thicker notogastral setae like small tufts, setae c 1 and c 2 situated closer anterior border, vestigial setae f 1 situated posterior to setae h 1, setae v´ of femora I absent, while A. (A.) decipiens has narrower notogastral setae, setae c 1 and c 2 are located further, vestigial setae f 1 are situated posterior to setae h 2, setae v´ of femora I present.
