PSILORHYNCHUS HOMALOPTERA View in CoL GROUP
Included species: Psilorhynchus arunachalensis , P. homaloptera , P. microphthalmus , and P. pseudecheneis .
Diagnosis: Members of this group are characterized by their high unbranched pectoral fin ray counts (between seven and ten), and by their high lateral line scale counts (39–48).
Remarks: This species group contains the remaining species of Psilorhynchus not included in any of the other species groups listed above. Members of this group are moderately elongate and exhibit higher numbers of unbranched pectoral fin rays and lateral line scales than other members of the genus. This species group is roughly equivalent to the genus Psilorhynchoides proposed by Yazdani et al. (1991), with the addition of P. arunachalensis and P. microphthalmus . Its recognition here is tentative, and awaits further substantiation once material of P. arunachalensis , P. homaloptera , and P. microphthalmus becomes more readily available.
