STAEGERIA Wulp 1876 : xlix (preocc. Rondani 1856). Type-species, Sciophila halterata Staeger (mon.).

Monoclona Mik 1886: 279 (nom. nov. for Staegeria Wulp ). Type-species, Sciophila halterata Staeger (aut.) = rufilatera (Walker).

M. digitata Edwards 1940a: 460 . Type-locality: Brazil, Santa Catarina, Nova Teutônia. Lectotype ♂, NHM (here designated).

Notes. The type series included four males and one female, without the designation of a type, of which three syntypes are at the NHM , two males and one female. One of the males is designated lectotype. Its labels are: “ Brasilien / Nova Teutonia / 27º 11’ S 52º 23’ W / Fritz Plaumann / 9.6.1937.” // “Brit. Mus. / 1939-628” // “SYN- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with light blue border]” // Megalopelma / platyura Edw. [hw] / F.W. Edwards 193[pr]7[hw” // “ SYNTYPE / Megalopelma / cellularis [hw] / det. J.E. Chainey, 1996” // “BMNH(E) # / 257824”. The male terminalia is not dissected. The two other syntypes are also in excellent condition, and they are numberd “BMNH(E) # / 257825-6”. One of them has the abdomen glued to the micropin base and the other has the label with Edwards’ handwriting. Two identified specimens from the type-locality are at the NHM .

M. maculata Edwards 1933: 306 . Type-locality: Brazil, RJ, Petrópolis. Holotype ♂, NHM.
