Material examined. PANAMA, Chiriquí: Boquete, Palmira Centro, emerged from misc. branch, 1 female, 24.XI.2018, B.B. Baldwin col. ( DHCO).
This species was recently described from Costa Rica. However, Nascimento et al. (2019) pointed out that Merionoeda culicina sensu Bates (1885) , in fact, is E. birai . The specimen mentioned by Bates (1885) was also collected in the Panamanian province of Chiriquí. Accordingly, although the type series of the species is from Costa Rica, Panama is also a known place where the species occurs, and the specimen examined by us allows us to confirm that.
