2. Acroceras zizanioides (Kunth 1816: 82) Dandy (1931: 54) ( Fig. 2 )

Basionym: Panicum zizanioides Kunth (1816: 100) . ≡ Panicum pseudoryzoides Steudel (1853: 75) . First-step lectotype:— BRAZIL. Bahia: without locality, without date, Salzmann s.n.

(K), designated by Zuloaga et al. (1988: 204), corrected from “ isotype ”. Second-step lectotype: K-000003916!, here designated.

Isolectotypes: K-000003917!, P-00731497!, W-1889-0239902!.

Zuloaga et al. (1988) recorded one specimen collected by Salzmann in Bahia deposited at K as the “ isotype ” of Panicum pseudoryzoides . However, we found two specimens in this herbarium (K-000003916 and K-000003917) that belong to the type collection. This material is mounted with other non-type specimens of the same species [K-000003916 on a sheet with K-000309355, and K-000003917 on a sheet with K-000309356)]. As we found more than one specimen at K, and two other specimens at P and W, we propose a second-step lectotype.

The sheet K-000003916 was chosen as lectotype because it is the most complete specimen housed at Kew. Consequently, the other three specimens (K-000003917, P-00731497 and W-1889-239902) are isolectotypes. Salzmann worked for several years at MPU and a great number of his collections are housed there, but we did not find any duplicate that agreed with Panicum pseudoryzoides in that herbarium.
