Ambrosiophilus semirufus ( Schedl, 1959) stat. res., comb. nov.
Xyleborus semirufus Schedl, 1959: 499 View in CoL .
Remarks. This species was previously considered a synonym of Ambrosiodmus obliquecauda ( Motschulsky, 1863) (here placed in Euwallacea , see below) by Wood (1989: 170). Images of the lectotype of Phloeotrogus obliquecauda and a paratype of X. semirufus were examined and compared by SMS and RAB. Both species have somewhat similar elytral declivital sculpturing with two or three pairs of large tubercles on interstriae 2, however they clearly differ in form, especially in the form of the pronotum with is quadrate in dorsal profile in E. obliquecauda and rounded in A. semirufus . The species has the characteristics of Ambrosiophilus given above for A. bispinosulus and is here transferred to that genus.
Distribution. Sri Lanka.
