The genus is distributed throughout the Afrotropical and Oriental Regions ( Lorenz 2021). The African species were reviewed by Basilewsky (1986) and later by Schüle (2009). There are 14 and one species recognized for the former and the later Regions, respectively ( Lorenz 2021). Ecological remarks were provided by Basilewsky (1986). The genus was not recorded for Guinea ‒ Bissau, but here are four new records for this country.
