Range: — Costa Rica to Venezuela to Bolivia (LP); so far known in Bolivia from only the immediate vicinity of Estación Biológica Tunquini, Nor Yungas, where it is common.

Ecology: —Locally common; epiphytic and saxicolous in humid forests; 700–2200 m.

Notes: —Several forms are distinguished based on the degree of laminar dissection. Of these, only f. flabellatum (Willd.) Mickel is known from Bolivia. Morphologically, it intergrades with var. peltatum in other countries.
