Description. Holotype female. Dorsal coloration. Head, clavus and corium shiny reddish brown; antennal segments I–II shiny pale castaneous, III shiny brown, IV pale yellowish white with basal third and apex brown; anterior lobe of pronotum shiny brownish castaneous; posterior lobe shiny brownish castaneous except shiny black posterior border; scutellum shiny brownish castaneous with apex yellow; hemelytral membrane smoky, translucent; connexivum shiny dark castaneous with intersegmental joint dark brown; dorsal abdominal segments dark castaneous with posterior margin of each segment dark brown. Ventral coloration. Head, rostral segments, prothorax and mesothorax shiny dark brownish castaneous; metathorax dull dark brownish castaneous; legs shiny dark castaneous; tarsi pale castaneous orange; spinules of fore and middle femora and tibiae dark reddish brown; abdominal sterna shiny dark brownish castaneous suffused with dirty yellow; pleural margin of abdomen dark shiny reddish brown. Structure. Head: antennal segment I less than twice as long as segment I; rostrum reaching posterior border of prosternum. Thorax. Pronotum wider than long; anterior lobe less than twice as long as posterior lobe. Hemelytron macropterous, reaching the apex of last abdominal segment; veins of hemelytral membrane distinct with two visible cells.

Measurements. Female. Body length 4.72; head width across eyes 0.68; interocular distance 0.28; antennal segments: I 0.44, II 0.72, III 0.64, IV =ca. 0.78 (curled); pronotum: length of anterior pronotal lobe 0.80, length of posterior pronotal lobe 0.44,maximum width of anterior pronotal lobe 0.92, maximum width of posterior pronotal lobe 1.62; scutellum: length 0.60, width 0.72.
Type material. HOLOTYPE female: MEXICO: Veracruz, Tlacolula , 9-XI-1995, H. Brailovsky & E. Barrera ( UNAM) . PARATYPES: 1 female: MEXICO: OAXACA: km 93 Tuxtepec-Oaxaca , 28-V-1990, E. Barrera & A. Cadena ( UNAM) ; 1 female: OAXACA: Huautla de Jimenez , collected on secundary cloud forest litter, 1640 m, 18.12374°N- 96.83416°W, 13-VI-2016, R. S. Anderson ( UNAM) GoogleMaps .
Biology. Collected on secundary cloud forest litter.
Etymology. From the Latin “ convolutus ”, meaning rolled or twisted or spirally, referring to the curled shape of antennal segment IV.
Discussion. This species is similar to A. moritzii (Stein) in that both species have the anterior and posterior lobes of the pronotum uniformly shiny reddish brown to shiny brownish castaneous. Alloeorhynchus moritzii can be distinguished by having the corium shiny yellow with apical third reddish brown; the apex of the scutellum is reddish brown; the legs are yellow; and antennal segment IV is pale castaneous orange. In A. convolutus sp. nov., the corium is entirely shiny reddish brown; the apex of the scutellum is yellow; the legs are shiny castaneous orange (tarsi pale castaneous orange); and antennal segment IV is yellowish white with basal third and apex brown. Alloeorhynchus vittativentris Stål described from Colombia and later recorded from Panama has the anterior and posterior lobes of pronotum and the clavus and corium uniformly brownish castaneous, but the legs are pale yellow and the apex of scutellum is dark reddish brown to black.
Distribution. Known only from Mexico.
