Taxonomy. This species, described based on nymphs, can be distinguished by the following combination of characters: 1) labrum medially raised, dorsally with a row of long robust subapical setae on either side of midline ( Figs. 67 View FIGURES 67 – 75 a and b); 2) mandibles with incisors fused ( Figs. 68–69 View FIGURES 67 – 75 ); 3) left mandible with prostheca robust ( Fig. 68 View FIGURES 67 – 75 ); 4) right mandible with prostheca bifid ( Fig. 69 View FIGURES 67 – 75 ); 5) lingua rounded with tuft of setae apically ( Fig. 70 View FIGURES 67 – 75 ); 6) maxillae with palpi two-segmented and longer than galea-lacinia ( Fig. 71 View FIGURES 67 – 75 ); 7) glossae subequal in length to paraglossae, the last one subquadrate and with 2 rows of spine-like setae, segment II of palpi without lateral projection ( Fig. 72 View FIGURES 67 – 75 ); 8) legs elongate, dorsal edge of femora with a row of spine-like setae ( Fig. 73 View FIGURES 67 – 75 ); 9) tarsal claws with a row of denticles ( Fig. 74 View FIGURES 67 – 75 ); 10) hind wing pads absent; 11) terga dorsal surface with scales, posterior margin with pointed projections ( Fig. 75 View FIGURES 67 – 75 ).
Distribution. Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela
Material examined. One nymph: Tarotá river, 5º 49´N, 61º 25´W, 1324 m, 18/ 03/ 2006, EG, AMO, and MEG cols. One nymph: stream close to Paují locality, 4º 36´N, 61º 5´W, 942 m, 17/ 3/ 2006, EG, AMO, and MEG cols. One nymph: Kako-Parú stream, 4º 54´N, 61º 5´W, 913 m, 25/ 11/ 2005, EG, AMO, CA and MEG cols. Two nymphs: river close to Paují locality, 4º 29´N, 61º 34´W, 917 m, 17/ 3/ 2006, EG, AMO, and MEG cols. One nymph: Parupa river, 5º 40´N, 61º W, 1281 m, 28/ 6/ 2007, EG, AMO, CA and MEG cols. One nymph: Kauí stream, 5º 28´N, 61º16´W, 1196, 24 / 11/ 2005, EG, AMO, CA and MEG cols. Material housed at IML.
