Material in MHNG: 2 specimens MHNG INVE 51708 (ex MHNG 1098/10); 1098/10/1 : 126 mm; 1098/10/2 : 110 mm. The specimen figured by Kiener was supposedly one of Lamarck’s original specimens, but Kiener’s illustration does not match Lamacrk’s material. Locality on the label: Océan Indien .
Remarks: According to Rosalie de Lamarck, her father’s collection contained only two specimens.
Current taxonomic position: Fusinus nicobaricus ( Röding, 1798) ; placed in Fusinus by Kira (1962): 75. Locality is Indo – Pacific. Lamarck made reference only to pre-Linnaean figures.
