Stolons epigeal, leafy; stems 2-10 cm, with weakly elevated strigulose lines. Leaves 1—2-5 x 0-5-0-7 cm, ovate or elliptical, shortly petiolate, subentire. Inflorescence glabrescent, nodding. Petals 3-4-5 mm, pale purplish. Seeds c. 1 - 5 mm, fusiform, smooth, with a pellucid appendage. 2« = 36. N. Europe, extending southwards in the mountains to Corse and Jugoslavia.
