Type data. China, Zhejiang Province, from Niviventer confucianus (Milne-Edwards) .

Remarks. Wu, Wen, Yang and Wu (1982) synonymized Trombicula (Leptotrombidium) kaohuensis Yang, Wu and Wu, 1958 with L. wenense . The name Trombicula kaohuensis was published without description and was at the time of synonymization a nomen nudum. Later, Li, Wang and Chen (1997) gave a description of L. kaohuense as a separate species and thus made this name available. Therefore, they should be regarded as its authors. Comparison of morphological data given for this species by Li, Wang and Chen (1997) with those for L. wenense confirms that this is one and the same species. Consequently, I regard here L. kaohuense Li, Wang and Chen, 1997 as a new synonym of L. wenense .
