Genus Guyalna Boulard & Martinelli, 1996

Type species. Fidicina bonaerensis Berg 1879: 140 ( Argentina).

Remarks. This is another genus that was introduced in a taxonomic key providing limited information on the diagnostic characteristics of the genus ( Boulard & Martinelli 1996). The genus was revised and a full generic description was provided by Sanborn (2016b).

Diagnosis. Within the Guyalnina found in the Lesser Antilles, species of Guylana are distinguished by having a combination of parallel radial and radiomedial crossveins, a head as wide as or slightly wider than the mesonotum, a head without prominent stylate and anteriorly extended eyes, eyes that slightly projecting laterally beyond the pronotum anterior edges, triangular or curved timbal covers absent, timbal covers with a rounded anterior margin and ventral margin that is parallel to the long body axis, and male opercula that generally form a right triangle.

Dorisiana is the most similar genus to Guyalna but species of Guyalna can be distinguished by eyes extending beyond the lateral edges of the pronotum, curved timbal covers, the ventral timbal cover margin is parallel to the long body axis rather than angled dorsally, and lateral uncus lobe extends farther in species of Guyalna than it does in the species of Dorisiana ( Sanborn 2016a) .
