Type species. Tettigonia mannifera Fabricius 1803: 36 ( South America ).

Diagnosis. Species of Fidicina are distinguished by the long and wide lateral metascutellar plates that almost reach the timbal covers, timbal covers that almost enclose the timbal cavities, a flat or very slightly rounded cruciform elevation with the posterior margin either deeply concave with the two posterior arms long and spiniform, or widely indented with the arms not very elevated and not ending in a point ( Boulard & Martinelli 1996).
