Diestrammena (Tachycines) borealis Cui et Liu, 2013 . Insects of Helanshan Region of Inner Mongolia, 46–47 pp, figs.13.A–D.

Description. Male. Body small to medium sized. Vertex of head divided into conical tubercles. Legs elongate and slender; fore femora about 1.5 times as long as the pronotum, beneath unarmed, internal genicular lobe with a small spine, external genicular lobe with 1 elongate movable spur; fore tibiae ventrally with 2 external and 2 internal spurs. Mid femora with an elongate movable spur on the internal and genicular lobe, ventrally unarmed; mid tibia ventrally with 2 external and internal spurs. Hind femur ventrally with 1–3 inner spines and without outer spines; hind tibia dorsally with 48–52 outer and inner spines respectively, arranged in groups. Super internal spur of hind tibia not exceeding the dorso-apical spine of metatarsus ( Fig. 57 View FIGURES 56–60 ). Hind metatarsus keeled beneath. Epiphallus of male genitalia trapezoidal and with denticles all round, the upper end concave and the ventral apex truncated ( Figs. 58–59 View FIGURES 56–60 ).

Female. Subgenital plate triangular and the apex blunt ( Fig. 60 View FIGURES 56–60 ). Ovipositor longer than the half hind femora.

Coloration. Body light brown with black or brown stripes. Face with 2 dark longitudinal stripes. Pronotum with 2 dark brown stripes ( Fig. 56 View FIGURES 56–60 ).

Measurements. (length in mm) Body ♂ 15.0, ♀ 15.0; pronotum ♂ 6.0, ♀ 6.0; fore femora ♂ 9.5, ♀ 10.0; hind femora ♂ 18.0, ♀ 15.0; ovipositor 12.0.

Material examined. 2♂♂, Helanshan , Ningxia, 1982-VII, collected by Ren Guo-Dong et al. ; 1♂ 2♀♀, Shuimogou , Helanshan, Inner Mongolia, alt. 2350m, 2010-VI-30 ~ VIII-11, collected by Cui Feng-Li et Zhang Xufeng.

Distribution. China (Ningxia, Inner Mongolia).

Diagnosis. This species is rather similar to T. (T.) chinensis Storozhenko, 1990 but differs from the latter in that: fore femora without spines beneath; epiphallus of male genitalia trapezoidal and with denticles all round, the upper end concave and the lower end almost truncated.

Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the boreal district where this species occurs.
