Brasineura calori View in CoL sp. n.
( Figs 1–14 View FIGURES 1–8 View FIGURES 9–14 )
Diagnosis (Male). Hypandrium without a projection in the middle; phallosomal side struts proximally not fused, external parameres distally forked, with a small triangular projection on each inner margin; two pairs of endophallic sclerites, an antero-lateral pair short, slender, sinuous, narrowing distally, and a mesal pair stout, almost triangular, anteriorly concave and almost touching in the middle, narrowing distally and curved inwards.
Color (in 80 % ethanol). Compound eyes black; head pattern ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Scape and pedicel brown, f1–f3 brown. Mx4 brown with apex dark brown. Femora yellow; tibiae brown with apex dark brown; tarsomeres 1–3 brown. Forewings almost hyaline, as illustrated ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–8 ); a brown spot on confluence of Cu 2 –1 A; veins brown. Hindwing ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1–8 ), almost hyaline throughout, veins brown.
Morphology. Compound eyes without interommatidial setae. Outer cusp of lacinial tip broad, with four denticles markedly sclerotized ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Forewing pterostigma anteriorly narrow, wider in the middle, narrowing posteriorly, areola postica tall, wide basally, slightly slanted posteriorly with round apex, left forewing M with five primary branches, M 5 forked, resulting in M 5a and M 5b ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–8 ), right forewing M with five primary branches, M 5 three branched, resulting in M 5a, M 5b1 and M 5b2 ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–8 , see also variation of the paratypes below). Hindwing M vein sinuous, Rs straight, R 2+3 and R 4+5 straight ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Hypandrium of one sclerite, slightly concave anteriorly, posteriorly U shaped, setae as illustrated ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Phallosome ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1–8 ) with side struts proximally not fused, posteriorly fused to external parameres, these stout, distally forked, with two pointed processes on the inner side, forming an almost closed elliptic area enclosing a membrane with pores, partially projected out, distally with a small triangular projection on each inner margin. Two pairs of endophallic sclerites; antero-lateral pair short, slender, sinuous, narrowing distally; a mesal pair stout, almost triangular, each arm anteriorly concave and almost touching in the middle, narrowing distally and curved inwards. Paraprocts stout, broad, irregularly shaped, sensory fields with 32–33 trichobothria on basal rosettes; setae as illustrated ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Epiproct anteriorly straight, sides converging to round posterior border; a long seta mesally near each side, other setae as illustrated ( Fig.8 View FIGURES 1–8 ).
Measurements (in microns). FW: 3852, HW: 2495, F: 996, T: 1772, t1: 724, t2: 78, t3: 143, f1: 862, f2: 910, f3: 816, Mx4: 222, IO: 378, D: 474, d: 298, PO: 0.62.
Variation of paratypes. Paratype (P1) both forewings as the right forewing of the holotype and with both hindwings as the holotype. Paratype (P2) left forewing as the right forewing of the holotype, right forewing with M vein five branched, but without secondary branches ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 9–14 ) and with both hindwings as the holotype. Paratype (P3) left forewing with M vein five branched, with M 2 forked resulting in M 2a, M 2b and M 5 two branched resulting in M 5a and M 5b ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 9–14 ), right forewing with M vein five branched, with M 1 incomplete ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 9–14 ) and with both hindwings as the holotype. Paratype (P4) left forewing as the right forewing of the holotype, rigth forewing with M vein four branched, with M 4 forked resulting in M 4a and M 4b ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 9–14 ) and with both hindwings as the holotype. Paratype (P5) left forewing as the right forewing of the holotype, right forewing with M vein four branched, with M 4 three branched, resulting in M 4a, M 4b and M 4c, with all branches having a close origin ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 9–14 ) and with both hindwings as the holotype. Paratype (P6) left forewing with M vein four branched, with M 4 three branched, resulting in M 4a, M 4b1 and M 4b2 ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 9–14 ), right forewing as the right forewing of the holotype and with both hindwings as the holotype. Paratype (P7) left forewing as the right forewing of the holotype, right forewing with M vein four branched, with M 4 three branched, resulting in M 4a, M 4b1 and M 4b2 (as in figure 14), and with both hindwings as the holotype.
