Euconnus (Rhomboconnus) inkachakanus View in CoL sp. n. ( Figs 4–6 View FIGURES 1–6 , 10–12 View FIGURES7–12 )

Holotype: Bolivia (Chapare Prov.): ♂, two labels: " BOLIVIA: Cochabamba Dep. / Incachaca, S17°12', W65°49', 1875 m, / 8-10.XI.2007, sifting forest litter / leg. V. Grebennikov" [white, printed], " EUCONNUS / ( RHOMBOCONNUS ) / inkachakanus m. / P. Jałoszyński, '17 / HOLOTYPUS " [red, printed] ( MNHW).

Diagnosis. BL> 3.0 mm; head with moderately long and dense suberect setae, pronotum and elytra with moderately dense and very long erect setae; tempora strongly narrowing posteriorly; vertex in lateral view evenly rounded, lacking impression; pronotum broadest between middle and posterior third, broader than long; pronotal base with narrow transverse groove; the longest endophallic sclerite with needle-like, slender and pointed apex.

Description. Body of male ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–6 ) strongly convex, elongate, with long and slender appendages, BL 3.08 mm; cuticle glossy, uniformly dark brown, vestiture slightly lighter than cuticle.

Head ( Figs 5–6 View FIGURES 1–6 ) strongly narrowing posteriorly, broadest at eyes, HL 0.68 mm, HW 0.53 mm; vertex and frons confluent, evenly and weakly convex, posterior margin of vertex projecting posteriorly as a subrectangular lobe fused with a steep elevation of the anterior portion of 'neck' region (well-visible in Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1–6 ); tempora nearly straight except for short posterior portions, where they are rapidly bent mesally; supraantennal tubercles barely marked; eyes moderately large, finely faceted and distinctly projecting from silhouette of head. Punctures on vertex and frons very fine and inconspicuous; setae moderately long and dense, suberect, additionally posterior portion of each temple with a fringe of thick and long bristles. Antennae very slender, AnL 1.88 mm; all antennomeres except III elongate, III subquadrate; antennomeres X–XI distinctly flattened, XI about as long as IX–X together, 3.5 × as long as broad.

Pronotum ( Figs 5–6 View FIGURES 1–6 ) in dorsal view broadest near posterior third and strongly narrowing both anteriorly and posteriorly, PL 0.63 mm, PW 0.75 mm; sides strongly rounded, anterior and posterior margins nearly straight, base with a long and narrow transverse groove. Punctures inconspicuous; setae moderately dense but distinctly longer and more erect than those on frons and vertex, bristles reduced to a small lateroventral patch near anterior margin of each hypomeron, not visible in dorsal view.

Elytra suboval, broadest distinctly in front of middle, EL 1.78 mm, EW 1.20 mm, EI 1.48; apices separately rounded. Punctures on elytral disc inconspicuous; setae very long, erect, moderately dense.

Legs long and slender; protrochanters unmodified.

Aedeagus ( Figs 10–12 View FIGURES7–12 ) stout, AeL 0.63 mm, in ventral view drop-shaped with apical region rapidly narrowed; endophallus with four sclerites ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES7–12 ), of which the longest has very narrow, needle-like apical region; parameres not broadened in subapical region, each with two setae.

Female. Unknown.

Distribution. Central-western Bolivia, east of Andes ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 ).

Etymology. Locotypical, after Incachaca (= Inkachaka), an archeological site in Bolivia.

Remarks. The long and erect setae covering the pronotum and elytra and suberect, slightly shorter setae on frons and vertex of E. inkachakanus resemble those of E. timstruyvei Jałoszyński, 2017 from Panama. Both species are also largest among Rhomboconnus , but E. timstruyvei is only 2.50–2.53 mm long, whereas the newly described species is a real giant among Euconnus , measuring over 3 mm.
