Pterygosoma foliosetis Jack, 1961: 253 , fig. 9
Type host: Psammophilus dorsalis (Sauria: Agamidae ). Type locality: India (Nilgiri Hills).
Redescription. FEMALE (based on 1 lectotype and 4 paralectotypes from Psammophilus dorsalis ). Gnathosoma . Chelicerae 160–180 long; basal swollen part 60–80 long, slender distal part 100–105 long. Seta dF and dG 45–50 and 35–40 long, respectively. Palpal tibia with short claw; palpal tarsi with 3 setae. Subcapitulum with filiform setae n, about 10 long. Hypostome with smooth rounded apex, 130–160 long. Peritremes about 120 long. Idiosoma 485–645 long and 720–805 wide. Dorsum with about 35 pairs of flattened short setae, 25 long, situated anteriorly; 4–7 pairs of paddle-shaped longer setae, 60–105 long, situated laterally; 2 pairs of dorso-median setae: dm1 85 long and dm2 95–115 long, and 10–19 pairs of leaf-shaped peripheral setae, about 105 long, situated posteriorly. All dorsal leaf-shaped setae covered with vein-like striations, as in Fig. 81D View FIGURE 81 . Eyes absent. Venter. Setae vm1 filiform, vm2 and vm3 apically expanded. Genital slit situated dorsally. Genital series represented by 1 pair of spinelike setae g1, about 40 long. Pseudanal series represented by 4 pairs of setae ps1–ps4, 50–65 long. Legs chaetotaxy: setae of trochanters (1–1–1–1), femora (3–1–1–0[1]), genua (3–1–0–0), tibiae (5–3–3–3). In 1 paratype setae dFIV present. Setae on each podomere filiform, except for slightly serrate setae dFI and dFII. Setation of tarsi I–IV as in group B: tarsi: I 12 setae (ft, tc’, tc”, p’, p”, a’, a”, it’, it”, u’, u”, vs’) and solenidion ω1; II 8 setae (tc’, p’, p”, a’, a”, u’, u”, vs’) and ω1; III and IV with 8 setae each (tc’, p’, p”, a’, a”, u’, u”, vs’). Setae tc’ of legs II–IV and a’, a”, u’, u”, vs’ of legs I–IV smooth.
FIGURE 82. Pterygosoma foliosetis Jack, 1961 , female in ventral view.
MALE. Unknown.
DEUTONYMPH (based on description presented in Jack 1961, amended). Gnathosoma as in female. Idiosoma 240 long and 530 wide. Dorsum with 8 pairs of antero-lateral setae; 2 pairs of blunt-pointed serrate dorso-median setae dm1 and dm2 and 14 pairs of leaf-shaped peripheral setae. Eyes absent. Venter as in female. Genital series represented by 1 pair of spine-like setae g1. Pseudanal series represented by 2 pair of setae ps. Setae ps1 situated dorsally, ps2 ventrally.
Type material (examined). 1 female lectotype and 2 paralectotypes ( NHM no. 1966.2.22.716–719) from Psam- mophilus dorsalis (Gray) (Sauria: Agamidae ) ( NHM no. 1894.8.30.3), INDIA: Tami Nadu state, Nilgiri Hills , 30 August 1894, coll. W. M. Daly ; 2 female paralectotypes ( NHM no. 1966.2.22.723–724) from same host ( NHM no. 1846.11.12.6), INDIA: Tamil Nadu state, coll. J. B. Jerden.
Type material deposition. All type material deposited in the NHM .
Host and distribution. This species is known only from Psammophilus dorsalis from India [Tami Nadu state, Nilgiri Hills and Anaimalai; Malabar district] ( Jack 1961).
Remarks. The re-examination of types of Pterygosoma foliosetis shows that setae vGII are present and setae dFIV are usually absent vs. setae vGII are absent and setae dFIV are present ( Jack 1964).
