Colletotrichum yulongense C.L. Hou & X.T. Liu View in CoL , sp. nov. ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 )
MycoBank MB 824163
Etymology:— yulongense , referring to the name of county where specimen was isolated.
Colonies on PDA at first white and increasingly becoming greyish white, reverse white to pale grey to dark green; growth rate 10−12 mm ([= 11±1, n = 6) per day at 25 ˚C, attaining 7.0− 8.4 cm in 7 days. Aerial mycelium white to light grey, dense, felty, septate, smooth-walled, branched. Setae present, medium to dark brown, smooth-walled, septate, 80−110 μm long. Conidia not observed on PDA but produced on SNA. Sclerotia and acervuli absent.
Asexual morph on SNA. Colonies on SNA flat with entire margin, medium hyaline to pale white, agar medium partly covered with very sparse aerial mycelium, reverse same colours. Conidiogenous cells enteroblastic, hyaline to pale brown, smooth-walled and cylindrical, often lacking a basal septum and continuous with the conidiophore. Conidia hyaline, smooth-walled, cylindrical, with obtuse to slightly rounded ends, contents granular, 11−13 × 4−5 μm (mean 12±1 × 4.5±0.5, n = 30). Spore germination on SNA mostly near apex of conidia. Appressoria in slide culture mostly formed from conidia, dark brown, variable in shape including ellipsoidal, ovoid or slightly irregular, 10−16 × 5−7 μm (mean 13±3 × 6±1, n = 10). Teleomorph not produced in culture after 3 months. Sexual morph not produced in culture.
Holotype:— CHINA. Yunnan Province: Yulong County, Lijiang, endophyte isolated from the leaves of Vaccinium dunalianum var. urophyllum Rehd. & Wils ( Ericaceae , Vacciniodeae), alt. ca. 2400 m, 20 July 2013, coll. C. L. Hou (holotype BJTC 193; culture ex-holotype CFCC 50818).
Additional specimen examined:— CHINA. Yunnan Province: Yulong County, Lijiang, endophyte isolated from the leaves of V. dunalianum var. urophyllum , alt. ca. 2400 m, 20 July 2013, coll. C. L. Hou ( BJTC 192, CFCC 50819). Known distribution:— Yunnan Province, China.
